groundwork
techniques:-

Monday evenings 7pm to 8.30pm

Many of the ‘drills’ & techniques will be similar to that seen on the
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu scene which is, as most of you will already know,
basically Judo Newaza.
Examples of coverage of the Judo Instruction over the ten weeks:-

Numerous exercises specific to groundwork techniques & movement principles

Guard positions as a form of attack or defence (closed guard, open guard,
half guard, spider guard etc)

Turnovers (from guard, turtle position etc)
-
Guard passes in various forms (escapes from between opponents legs or half
guard etc, excluding ‘standing’ passes)
-
Hold downs
-
Technical take downs to submissions.

Submissions (from various positions including options during hold downs or
as holds are ‘lost’ due to toketa)
All classes will:-

Start with warm-ups & some groundwork-specific ‘drills’
-
Cover 1 or 2 new techniques (including the details)
-
Include some form of randori (full, reduced percentage, positional etc)
-
Include a warm down.
